| 4. Open-Source Computersoftware: | |
| Commercial
computer programs like MS Office, Photoshop... are very expensive.
Therefore it is common, that illegal copies are used. Even many
Chrisitans use illegal copies. Somehow the Robin Hood mentality
triggers in: "Those software giants have already too much money...". But it is clear and simple: Even when the programs are overpriced, copying them is stealing!!! The alternative is open source: programs that can be downloaded and copied for free, completly legal! The most famous programs are maybe Linux and Mozilla Firefox. But there are dozens of good quality and user friendly programs. We are mostly using open source programs and are very pleased with them. Here are our favourites: | |
| Open office The alternative to Microsoft Office. It is a great program and even has bonuses like a PDF creating button, that Microsoft doesn't have. Very easy to learn, when familiar with MS Office. | |
| Kompozer This website was created with Kompozer!! | |
| Filezilla Free FTP program to upload the website pages on the server. | |
| Portableapps.com Makes your open source programs portable and you can carry them on a stick with you. This is so handy! | |
